Colombian coffee from Mario Tovar's own farm, roasted and served by his family on campus and out of a hand-painted truck.
Mario Tovar's family farm, high in the Andes
Roasted, ground, and served by the same family
Two countries. One family. One cup.
Melissa De La Cruz was homeschooled, taking business classes, when she saw the opportunity sitting in her own family: her grandfather grows coffee on that farm in Huila. What if his beans came here — roasted, ground, and served by his own family, three thousand miles from where they grew?
She opened the coffee truck on March 5, 2024, with guidance from NNMC's Small Business Development Center. The cafe inside the Administration Building followed. Both are still run day to day by the De La Cruz family.
"I want to bring something unique to my community. I want to give back something that's special."
Melissa De La Cruz, Founder — as told to the Los Alamos Reporter, March 2024
